Robert Gregory Thomas left his earthly home for glory on Friday, June 28, 2019 at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital with his family at his side.  He was born in Athens, GA , December 9, 1957 to the late Mary Ann Thomas and Robert “Sheik” Barrow.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Hazel K. Smith, his maternal grandfather Robert Brown, Sr. , his step-grandfather Thomas B. Smith and his maternal aunt Patricia Jean Thomas.

He joined Springfield Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of Reverend N. Mathis.  He was baptized and attended church and vacation bible school.  He was educated at Clarke Central High School and graduated in 1975. He began working at the University of Georgia in 2016 and was an employee until his death.

He was an avid lover of music.  He loved cooking and sharing his food with his family and friends.  He loved dancing and fishing. His laughter was contagious.  He was always willing to help someone in need.   He loved westerns, Sci-Fi, and old black and white horror movies.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his son, Robert G. Foster, Athens GA,  brother,  Dana B. Thomas, Athens, GA,  sister , Lisa M. Thomas, Athens, GA; nephew, Christopher W. Thomas, Athens, GA; uncle, Robert Brown, Jr., two aunts, Wanda Taylor and Denise D. Brown both of Athens, GA and a loving host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
