Clifford Washington, Jr. was born January 9, 1942 in Savannah, Georgia and emtered into eternity the early morning of December 11, 2015 after a recent diagnosis of cancer.
He was reared in Savannah, Georgia and received his formal education through the Savannah-Chatham County School System. He left Georgia with New Jersey in sight. After living in Plainfield, New Jersey for 28 years, he longed for home moved back home to Savannah, Georgia in 1979. Planning for retirement, he relocated his family to Brooklet, Georgia in 1987.
Clifford loved working with his hands. “If, he saw it, he envisioned it, if he envisioned it he built it.” Clifford developed his homestead to his design, and built a beautiful house for his family. Not only did Clifford enjoy building, he also enjoyed working in the transportation field. He spent 40 years in the trucking industry, driving from the East Coast to the West Coast, including Canada and Mexico.
Brother Washington accepted Christ as his Savior at Piney Grove Baptist Church of Bloomingdale, Georgia. He moved his membership to Johnson Grove Baptist Church of Portal, Georgia where he served as a faithful member who truly loved the Lord.
Clifford was preceded in death by his parents Clifford, Sr. and Elsie Sinnons Washington and a sister, Marie Flicking.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 51 years, Frances Lucille Washington, with whom he was truly blessed; a devoted daughter and three sons, Denene F Washington-Favors, C. Donnell (Milagros) Washington, Jermaine D. Washington all of Brooklet, Georgia; and Clifford Washington III of Athens, Georgia. Two adopted children, Anna Lisa Winfrey-Washington of Athens, Georgia, and Eric (Theresa) Stephens of Springfield, Georgia. Eight grandchildren: LaToya D. Washington, Jonathan S. Washington, Jaren S. Washington, Jaren Stephens, Malkolm Stephens, Xavier Stephens, and his heartbeats, Saa’e Zion Favors and Ayah Nia Simone Favors; sister, Rebecca Heyward; brother, Willie (Pat) Washington both of Savannah, Georgia; nieces and nephews.
