On November 21, 1948, Diane Griffin was born in Knoxville Tennessee to the late Frank Olden Hairston and Lurene (Hawkins) Hairston. She was the youngest of this union and grew up with her older brother, Frank Hoyt Hairston, Jr. in New York.
She graduated from August Martin High School in 1966. In 1969, the love of her life, Terence Hairston, and only child was born. Diane worked many jobs prior to leaving NY, including Southern Bell domiciled in the Twin Towers.
In 1980, she relocated to Athens Georgia to care for her mother until her departure in 1997. She was baptized at Timothy Baptist Church by Pastor Jerry Hutchins where she was a member. Diane retired as an Occupational Therapist for the state of Georgia.
Diane loved to travel and fellowship with family. Until she got sick, it was nothing for her to get in her GTO and go. She did not like the concept to have grass grow under her feet. She loved the Lord and trusted Him to take care of her.
On Thursday, July 30, 2020, Diane transitioned to be with the Lord, surrounded by her loved ones.
Survivors include her son, Terence Hairston; grandsons, Terek Hairston and Terence Hairston; and a host of other loving family members and friends.
