The season of life for Ethel Mae Johnson Jordan, who later became the matriarch of the family, began in Athens, Georgia on September 17, 1927. She was the beloved daughter of the late Marion Johnson, Sr. and Mozelle Foster Johnson.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jordan was preceded in death by a son, R. C. Hudson; grandson, Jabbar T. Hudson; and siblings: Marion, Jr., Helen, and Elizabeth “Buttercup”.
She was educated in the public schools of Athens and graduated from Athens High & Industrial School. While in high school, she was a member of the girls’ basketball team where she played the position of “guard”.
At a young age, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined Ebenezer Baptist Church West. She was a dedicated member and availed herself in service as a choir member and server for the kitchen committee.
Mrs. Jordan always used any holiday, not just the major holidays, to gather her family together. She loved cooking and baking a variety of tasty dishes and desserts.
Cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of her children: Larry (Shirley) Hudson, Pamela (Wayne) Hudson-Freeman, and Percy H. “P.J.” Jordan, Jr.; grandchildren, Deriko, Neka, Lanier, Ali, Everson, Tanisha, Yolanda, Rashad and Rychell; great-grandchildren, Jawan, Jaylen, Nija, Eric, DJ, King, Ni’Drica, Lafayette, Laquian, Ceasar, Jabbar and River; great-great-grandchildren, Caleb,
Keylan and Josiah; and a host of other relatives and friends
