Larry Earl Kenney Sims of Athens, was the son of the late Hattie Mae Sims Kenney and the late John Winfrey.
He was preceded in death by his step-father Mack H. Kenney, Sr., step-mother, Maggie S. Winfrey and two sisters, Joyce Usher and Rheta H. Evans Johnson.
Mr. Sims was a graduate of Athens High & Industrial School Class of 1964. He attended Morehouse College before being drafted into the United States Army to serve in the Vietnam War. He was also a graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service. Mr. Sims worked at his family's business, Winfrey Mutual Funeral Home along side his father, step-mother, and eventually his sister until his heart health began to fail.
He is survived by two sons, Tatnall Sean (Cassandra) Sims; Marx (Delphene) Sims; three granddaughters, Dyani, Chelsea and Taylor Sims; brother, Bishop Mack H. (Ella) Kenney, Jr.; sister Anna L. Winfrey-Washington; aunt, Gladys Sims Slocum; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
