Mamie E. Smith

Ms. Mamie Evans Smith of Athens, was a native of Rayle, Georgia.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Annie Liza Evans, Willie Mae Clemmons, Samuel Evans and her son, Jeffery Evans Smith.

She was affectionately known to her family as Ma’Dear, Granny, Grandma Mamie and Aunt Mamie.  She was a member of Springfield Baptist Church and an active member of the Usher Board until her health declined. Her favorite scripture was Psalms 23.

         She leaves to cherish her loving memories her daughter, Dorothy A. Robinson, Charleston, Soth Carolina; and her son; Ronnie (Marcia) Evans, Athens, Georgia; seven grandchildren; Bonita Cherry, Clinton (Shantellee) Robinson, Mequikaan (Brookes) Haynes; Medina Lewis; Dwayne, Stephanie & Tia Evans; nineteen great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
