Mary Ann Howard

Ms. Mary Ann Howard was born August 18, 1944 in Lexington, Georgia to the late Mr. Frank Howard and Mrs. Gracie Mae Williams Howard. She departed this earthly life on February 3, 2021 in Athens, Georgia.

Mary was educated in the Oglethorpe County School System.

She retired from Athens Regional Medical Center, Athens, GA.

Mary proclaimed her love for the Lord, joining Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Crawford, GA at an early age. As a young lady she joined St. James A.M.E. Church, Crawford, GA. She later joined Springfield Baptist Church, Athens, GA, where she served in many capacities. During her Christian journey she was a member of several Gospel Choirs and Groups which afforded her the opportunity to traveled throughout Georgia, South Carolina and other states lifting her voice worshiping the Lord in total praise.

Mary loved her family and friends and would often share of her memories of life with them. She had so many best friends in her life whom she helped and in return they would assist her. So many times, she would often cook and welcome anyone to partake in a meal with her, not just during the holidays but every day.

Mary was proceeded in death by her sister, Georgia Ann Watkins and brother, Franklin Roosevelt Williams.

Loving memories will be cherished by her two sons, Mr. Stanley C. Richards of Gainesville, GA, and Torrance A. (Shuwonna) Howard of Athens, GA; four grandchildren, Amber Richards, Aureonda Richards both of Gainesville, GA, Deunta Jennings and Ke'Marcis Howard both of Athens, GA; five great-grandchildren, Xavier Nicely, Samiya Richards, and Dion McDaniel all of Gainesville, GA, Da’Niya and Londyn Jennings both of Athens, GA; one sister, Strien Barnett of Athens, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces & nephews, cousins, and many friends.
