Patricia Jean Thomas received her wings from labor to reward Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at home with her family. She was born in Athens, GA, January 4, 1945 to the late Mrs. Hazel K. Thomas Smith and Mr. Robert L. Smith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Ann Thomas; step-parents, Thomas B. (Fat Boy) Smith and Annie M. (Betty) Smith.
She joined Springfield Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of Reverend M. Mathis. She served on the Junior Usher Board and was a member of the Youth Choir. She was educated in the Clarke County Schools and a graduate of Athens High and Industrial School Class of 1963. She attended Barber Scotia College in North Carolina where she received a Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) certification. She retired from Athens Regional Medical Center after 43 years of service. She was a member of the Imperial Social Club and the Licensed Practical Nurses Association.
She leaves cherished memories to her daughter, Melanie Thrasher-Osborne of Flower Mound, TX, three grandchildren, Brandon T. Parrot, Jalen A. Behr and Alisha K. Behr, all of Athens, GA; two nephews, Robert G. Thomas, Dana B. Thomas and niece, Lisa M. Thomas, all of Athens, GA; two great-nephews, Christopher W. Thomas and Robert Foster, both of Athens, GA, Timothy, Darlene, Michael and Sean Jennifer of Washington, D.C, one aunt, Annie Rose Willis of Rialto, CA; Robert, Susan, Robmese, Shannon Pittard & grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
