Funeral services for Ms. Regina Yvette Strickland will be held 1 PM, Saturday, March 7th at New Grove Baptist Church, 1228 Mooresgrove Rd., Winterville. Interment will be at East Lawn Memorial Cemetery. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to the service.
The family is receiving friends at the residence, 2675 Winterville Rd., Athens.
Ms. Strickland was born in Athens, GA on December 13, 1973 to the late John Thomas Johnson and the late Gloria Gene Strickland. Her legacy will live on through her brother Marlon Johnson and grandmother/adoptive mother Jesse Bell Johnson.
As a young child she was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis, a life threatening disease that mostly affected her lungs and digestive system. Doctors did not expect her to live beyond the age of 17 but Regina’s strong determination led her to graduate from Cedar Shoals High School in 1993. She successfully continued her education in Cosmetology eventually becoming a business owner selling beauty supplies. After lifelong battles, she finally lost her fight at age 41. Her strong, caring and loyal personality will live on forever.
She leaves to cherish her memories with Shirley Huffman (Jim Huffman), Rosezelle Johnson, Larry Johnson (Veronica Jones-Johnson), Helen Johnson, Alphonzo Johnson and a host of cousins, relatives and friends..
