Reginald Carey

Reginald “Red” Maurice Carey was on born May 4,1970. He is the son of Leroy & Frances “Precious”
Carey-Derricotte. He entered his eternal rest on the morning of November 3, 2023 at his residence.

Red dedicated his life to Christ at an early age under the late Rev. L.B. Stevens at Billups Grove Baptist
Church. Red graduated from Cedar Shoals High School 1989 where he was a leading member of
orchestra as an astounding bass player. Red started a career young as a kitchen manager, and lead Chef
at Shoney’s Restaurant. He went on to be well known in the family for his culinary skills and mastering
the grill. He was employed at Atkins Rope Company until his health began to decline.
Red value spending time with his family, watching movies, cooking, listening to music and his favorite
hobby of collecting model cars and boats.

Red was united in Holy Matrimony to Sherry Canteen in 2001.

Red leaves cherished memories to his loving and devoted wife, Sherri Ann Carey; one son Quinterrio
Carey; one step-daughter, Deondra Willimas (Mike) and step- son Calvin Wade; two sisters, Cerdrina
Derricotte (Mike Colbert), Ferdricka Carey (Jacson Colbert); one brother, Jalandrick Moore;
grandchildren, Mikian Williams and Mikel Williams; a niece, Breanna Derricott; nephews, Brison Brown,
Breontra Derricotte, Bryant Derricotte, Brandon Bannis, and Jayden Bannis; sister in-laws, Barbra
Wright, Mary Mitchell (Nathanial), Roxanne Canteen, Janie Canteen; brother-in-laws, Carlton Canteen,
and Arthur Canteen; aunts, Mary Lou Mitchell, Pat Daventport, Hattie Bolton, Cornelia Collins, Jessie
Harper, Prescilla Carey, Wadene Derricotte, Louella Barnett, Grace Hunter (Robert); uncles, George
Derricotte, and Robert Carey (Terrie); a special cousin and bonus Mom Jennifer Carey and a very
dedicated cousin, David Bolton; and a host of other cousins and friends.
