Mr. Samuel Shorter the son of Mr. Garnie Shorter and the late Eltrude Sneed Shorter was born on October 14, 1958. He entered into eternal rest on February 20, 2021 at his home.
Samuel accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age and became a member of the New Battery Baptist Church. He attended and graduated from the Greene County School. After graduating he enlisted into the U. S. Army, while stationed in Ft. Ord, California.
He met and married the late Chalyce LaVerne Shorter and the this union they was blessed with one child. Later he met the love of his life JoyCie Leggs and on October 5, 2003 she became his wife and he was the proud step father of five children.
To know him was to love him Samuel, affectionately known as "Sam" by his family and friends had a passion for working on repairing cars, some would say that was his life's calling helping others by repairing there cars. He loved helping others and would often say "see I can do anything with these hands." He later became a member of the Faithful Few Missionary Baptist Church in Scottdale, Georgia, where he was the Lead Deacon.
Samuel leaves his cherish memories to his loving and devoted wife, JoyCie Leggs Shorter Stone Mountain, Georgia, daughter Carissa Shorter, stepdaughter, Donita Leggs Whitaker, stepson's Nathanial (Janessia) Leggs Sr., Robert (Vivian) Leggs Sr. and Randolf (Joyce) Leggs Sr., father Garnie Shorter, sister Latisha Shorter, brother Aubrey Shorter, aunt Gwendolyn Smith, 14 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other in-laws and friends.
