Wayne Stanley Penn, a devoted father, beloved friend, and a pillar of strength to all who knew him, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2024, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he had lived for many years. He was 65 years old.
Born on December 3, 1958, in Athens, Georgia, Wayne lived a life defined by hard work, resilience, and an unwavering love for his family. A true people person, Wayne never met a stranger and had an extraordinary gift for connecting with others. A man of deep faith, he found joy in traveling, cheering on his beloved Georgia Bulldogs, and sharing his warmth and kindness with everyone he encountered.
Wayne is survived by his loving mother, Gwendolyn Penn; his two children, Jameel Wise and Ashley Penn Bellamy (Jerrod); and his cherished grandchildren, Victoria Bellamy and Layla Bellamy. His siblings also survive him: sisters Victoria Geter and Lisa Harris (David), brother Julius L.S. Penn (April), and sister-in-law Antoinette Penn. He leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other family members who will continue to honor his memory. Wayne’s extended "Dawg Nation" family also mourns the loss of one of their most passionate supporters.
Wayne will be remembered for his boundless generosity, his gift for bringing people together, and his endearing stubbornness. His legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Though Wayne’s earthly journey has come to an end, his spirit remains alive in the countless lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
